Active Megan

Megan is an active baby, and she does not want to sleep most of the time. To help her sleep better, we decided to go out to see the interesting neighbourhood.

Omg! He just had a big gulp of my soft ice cream. I love eating sweet thing more after pregnancy. In the past I preferred chips more. Interesting!!

On that evening, Megan slept so well. And we have more free time afterwards, and we could also visit the gym. Yeah!! 

Milestone // chewing

Megan started to chew her fingers these days. So we gave her Sophie the giraffe to chew. Though she still cannot manage to hold it perfectly, she quite enjoyed Sophie's company. 

Insisted not to sleep, so here's her second place to stay. 

She needed my assistance to put Sophie into her mouth. Otherwise Sophie ended up in her eyes. XDDD

Eczema

Both Ah Lun and I do not have skin allergy or eczema, we thought baby Megan will get rid of these skin issues. We are very disappointed to know that Megan has eczema and she's quite serious lately. She kept scratching her face all the time, and we had to swaddle her most of the time. In the wee hours, she could cry so loudly if we don't let her scratch. Together with the painful farting at 2am, 3am and 4.30am almost every night, it's draining me so much. I worried her so much and felt so uneasy as she's feeling itchy and miserable. 

We sent her to see her pediatrician at Union hospital on Monday, unfortunately we need to put strong medication on megan so as to settle her down. She's feeling better after two days. In the months of come, we have to monitor the humidity change and keep her moisturized on a regular basis. Hope she can grow out of it in the near future. 

Megan looked like this on Monday morning. I was scared to death and urgently arranged a doctor appointment. Luckily, someone cancelled one booking and we can see Dr Yim. 

5 applications of special ointment from doctor. Not yet fully recovered but situation has been improved a lot. 

My life saver

Recommended by Connie, this is my life saver during the blockage of milk ducts. This does keep my ducts happy. Clearing Connie's bottle earlier and I went to the shop to get a new one today. 

My quiet time with Megan

It's been a stressful week as baby does not sleep well in mid night. In addition, my breastfeefing journey has been difficult lately with blocked milk ducts and  sore nipple. There's blood found in the milk two days ago. 

Today, I decided to go out with baby by myself. Literally this is the first time for me to do this. I just went to the promenade to enjoy some sunshine and sea breeze. 

Strollers and rubbish bin are in the same colour! 

Such a breezy day. Mom looks tired. 

Finally she is sleeping on the way back!

I realized that Megan does not have enough "proper" clothes as she goes our more often nowadays.

Milestone // playing with saliva

She's been producing a lot of saliva lately. But today she has officially made some bubbles from her saliva and she's spitting a bit of her saliva as she practices her muscle around the jaws.

Megan's first trip to HK island

I dated my boss to meet up at Hong Kong Football Club so both of us could take our babies out. Unfortunately my boss must be very stressful in handing two babies at one time, she forgot our appointment though we had confirmed one day earlier. After waiting for 40mins, I decided to call her and she felt terribly sorry. 

That's fine indeed, it's my first little adventure with Megan. I finally put her into sleep while we were waiting at the lobby. Not easy indeed. 

Ah Lun insisted to send me there by car. If i were to take taxi, it would be a disaster! I considered to take mtr too but it may be too difficult for me to reach hkfc. 

Following this missed appointment, we went to have lunch together. Our first family meal outside. Megan finished her bottle of formula milk so quickly because the taste is new for her. 

Its just a short trip, but there was so much preparations in it. Feeling accomplished when back home.

Ah Lun takes up too many tasks making me feel like I am a lousy mom. Actually I can do this!!!

Crisis management

This crisis happened at home on a sunny Sunday. It was a day off for Tin Tin, as usual, I could not take morning nap on that day and started my routine since 4ish am --- Feeding Megan, followed by milk pumping. Feeding Kailan and cleaning her wee wee. After that, cleaning the milk pumps and bottles for two rounds (too many). Then sterilizing them for two rounds and reassemble them. That's good that Ah Lun got some bread at home, so I just eat bread as breakfast. Not too late after my breakfast, Megan was hungry again. 

At around 3pm, Ah Lun had to go out to work after he assisted me with bathing Megan at 2:45pm. As usual, I dressed baby up and followed by a feeding. During the feed, I heard Kailan scratching seriously for a long time in the living room. While I cannot leave my nursing chair, I had to yell and commanded Kailan to stop. But she did not even I threatened that I will not offer dinner if she continued scratching. 

After the feed and putting baby into bed, I saw Kailan's swollen face and body. I was scared to death because she desperately need to go to the hospital with such a face. 

I called Ah Lun for a discussion but he could only be back at 7pm. Tin Tin usually came home at 7 or 8pm. No one in my family is strong enough to hold Kailan who is expected to struggle when she meets other dogs. Ah Lun finally got his father's help. 

Megan was well behaved enough for me to look after Kailan. I am so thankful for this good baby. 

Kailan peed and vomited, so housework is non-stop following the feeding. I kept on communicating with Ah Lun while I wiped Kailan with wet cloths hoping that she felt better. 

Also I need to pack baby goods if we are going out. Bottles, formula milk, water, diapers, spare clothes, pacifier, etc. 

Dad in law offered so much help because he could hold Kailan when she's struggling. Kailan is only 10kg but she's so powerful when she meets dogs on the street. I could hardly hold her in these situations. Only men can tame this wild dog. 

Finally baby, me and dog were on daddy in law's car. Another shocking news came when I called the animal hospital in Mongkok. OMG! The next doc appointment will be 8pm, 2.5hours from the time we set off. 

We had no time to curse, we went straight to tsuen wan looking for vets who still open door on a Sunday evening. Glad that we had found one. After the wait, Kailan got an injection and I felt so defeated after everything is done. 

Ah Lun must worry his girlfriend so much that he called a few times. After the vet visit, he is going back home too. He picked us up from the car park and by that moment, I felt safe and grounded again. 

When we were back home, we had a quick dinner. Megan was back in time for the next meal, and she's such a great baby when I was busy looking after Kailan. I love her more and more. XOXOXO 

Bonding between father and daughter

This is why I choose expressing milk out and feed baby with bottles. Father has a chance to have a better connection with baby through feeding. Obviously Ah Lun enjoys this task so much. 

I was expressing milk while he was feeding Megan at 12 midnight. Baby falling asleep while drinking as usual. It's a sweet moment to remember.

Gift from kitty! Together with the milk bottle from Joanne, Megan will become a marimekko baby. 

Cheer me up!

Thank you for buying me flowers when you pass by. Simple things like this just make my day. It means so much to me especially my personal image is low during motherhood. 

Bugaboo Bee

My friend passed me her stroller, we just found that there's a missing strap so it is unsafe to use the second hand stroller. 

In this case, we had to go to buy a new one. I wanted to have yoyo as mentioned, but we cannot wait for 3 more months because yoyo is just for 6m+ babies. 

We went to buy the stroller urgently on the day before her 100th day celebration. She definitely needs to be seated for those three hours. 

We went to Eugene to take a look and found out those Jspanese strollers are too light and could not give baby enough support. In the end, we decided to buy bugaboo bee which is a popular stroller for city dwellers, esp in New York. 

Well, every stroller has its advantages and disadvantages. The bad thing is it's less compact compared to those Japabese brands after folding. But I love how it moves smoothly and the cool design. 

The brand also cross over with Andy Warhol and others for limited editions but unfortunately they do not offer in Hong Kong.

Milestone // night weaning

Hoooooray!! Megan finally did not wake up in the middle of the night for milk on her 100th day birthday. 

It's difficult to describe my happiness of getting sleep more than 4 hours in one go. The feeling is just great when I naturally wake up at 8am. 

We fed Megan at 10pm last night, and then I expressed my milk at 12 mid night. By the time I went to bed, it's 1:30am. 

I just woke up briefly at 3:50am as she felt uncomfortable with farting / bowel movement. I calmed her very quickly and then continued with my sleep. 

The next thing happened is waking up naturally on my bed, without the crib next to me because Tin Tin took it out at 6am when she started working. 

It's such a great day for everyone in the house.

Babybites sleeping bag

I could not resist buying this, even Ah Lun said I had to buy this. 

This sleeping bag is from Spain and we ordered it online before Christmas. It arrived slightly after the new year and we were so happy about the design and quality. This product can also be used in the stroller, as they have some holes on the back for the stroller harness to go through them. Anyway, it will again stay with baby Megan for a long time.

She just loves doing this. She can hurt herself after doing this for a long time. We always find blood stain on her PJ's sleeves. 

Milestone // milk refusal period

This daddy just enjoys feeding! 

Megan looks more alert these days, and it's difficult to keep her interested on her milk. She keeps on looking around and drink as little as 2oz sometimes. I bet she's entering into the so-called milk refusal period. 

Tin Tin's patience really amazes me all the time. She has her way to let Megan drink all her milk. Her trick is to put her into sleep first. 

As Megan drinks so little these days, she has wasted a lot of my milk. Baby, you know every drop is hard work and dedication. As ah Lun says always, 大左先同你計。

Megan has been very interested about her own hands these days. According to the books, she could just merely observe her hands for a long period of time. Today, in between all the chaos on a Sunday without Tin Tin, she grabbed her toy by herself for the very first time. Though it's brief, it's another new thing she has learnt. Mom was flattered.
