Dubai Press Tour - Day 4

We visited the Dubai Autodrome today. The place was filled with a lot of men and great race cars, and i found the noise of the engine was so nice, it really is a COOL place. I like watching people to change the tires, filling in the petrol, pushing the cars to the race track, it's like i am in the race event!! One of the media had a chance of getting a ride on a speedcar, however, when he was back, the car's back was crashed, but the media is OK, it is very lucky that no one was hurt. For me, I tried pretending to be a racer, and the outfit is very cool!

After that, we went to the Atlantis the Palm, it is a very nice resort. This is the first media group from Hong Kong to experience the resort. The view is fantastic, overlooking the Arabian Gulf. We had a fantastic dinner at the 3-star Michellin Restaurant, Ossiano. The restaurant window is actually a fish tank! Food is extremely good and the view is unique!!!

Flowers in Dubai

both ah lun and i love white flowers. I found some nice flowers in Dubai.

Dubai Press Tour - Day 3

Today was a long day but it was the most productive day we had!
We started off with a half day city tour featuring the famous Dubai Museum, abra ride, spice souk and gold souk. The vanilla stick is sold at Dhs2 each at the spice souk, it is much much cheaper than that was sold in City Super Hong Kong.

Without any expectation, we visited the BEST steakhouse in Dubai, that is JW's. The steak and prawns just made us speechless. At Dhs 250, you cannot really try the same quality steaks we had here. We were also amazed that prawns in the Gulf region are so tasty in terms of its texture and freshliness.

We had visited the Al Bastikya Area for a good understanding of the Arabic culture in the afternoon and we were all thrilled to learn more about the culture in the Middle East from Leila who is a German - Arabic lady.

Our day was not ended without some more good food. We had Chinese food at the Shang Palace at Shangri-La Dubai, we kept ordering prawns!!!Let the prawns coming.

We were back to the hotel at 10pm with sore legs.
Now, I have to pack before I go to bed.

Dubai Press Tour - Day 2

Today is Friday, and no activities can be arranged during the morning because Muslims are going to the mosque. For Hong Kong people, free time equals to shopping time, so we are sending the media to the Mall of the Emirates. Everyone, including male reporters, had a good time there. As usual, I went to Zara Home to do treasure hunt.

After a half-day shopping, we went to have the famous Desert Safari Tour. Everyone was happy because the setting was very nice, especially during the sunset time. We had also seen a new born camel baby at the camel farm.

After the sun had set, my Nikon Camera's shutter could not be opened, may be there are some sand particles in the lens. Thinking on the positive side, I took some amazing shots of the beautiful sunset. No regret!

Dubai Press Tour - Day 1

I do believe a philosophy, when you are so eager to do something, you will not always get what you want. Before I board the plane, I am so prepared to get an 8-hour sleep in my little economy class seat. I have brought along a comfortable pillow, my own eye shield (just do not want to ask the stewardess to send me one after ages), and even drink my Chinese medicine which helps to achieve a quality sleep. However, I did not sleep for a second on my 8 hour flight because a man from Bahrain is sitting next to me, and he keeps moving his position and pushing my elbow or disturbing me in other ways. Sigh......it is really a cruel thing for meiling who has always been sleeping like a baby.

We have landed Dubai at 4ish, and when we reached our hotel, it was around 5 or 6am. The hotel was so full on that night, and we only got a limited number of rooms for the media. So, we have to wait in the lobby for a longer period of time. I took the chance to see the beautiful hotel which is a 4-star deluxe, I think it is doing more than it is required to do. What a lovely hotel with a touch of Arabia.

We also visited:
Raffles Dubai
Burj Dubai, the Tallest Man-made Structure on Earth
Dubai Mall, the Largest Mall in the World with the Largest Indoor Aquarium
Chill Out Lounge, an ice bar in Dubai with -6 degrees. The glass is also made of ice!!!

What a long long day........................

祝婆婆身體健康!!

Today, Chan's family is visiting Grandma in Tuen Mun to celebrate her 93th Birthday! She is very smart today because she could remember me, and did not say I am Kitty Chan or someone else. She had become a lot thinner than before, because she could not eat much these days. Doctor said that her disgestive system is weak as she gets older. Because of that, she does not have strength to walk or move, and that makes us worried. All she likes now is 益力多. I truly wish her 身體健康, 長命百歲.

星期幾髮夾

What a lovely set of hair clips by Kate Spade. Thanks Cat for getting me a 20% discount. And beacuse of this great discount, I have also bought a new wallet at the same time. 真係無啦啦大出血.....>o<"

再接再接厲

I am trying to cook a meal every weekend. This week, the menu is 台灣肉臊 / 木魚紫菜豆腐 / 蝦仁炒蛋 / 油菜走油 / 老火湯
I think i like the fried egg with prawn most! Hope to cook something impressive in the following weekend.

萬聖節2008

Halloween falls on a Friday night, and everyone is going out. We had a hot pot dinner in Tsim Sha Tsui with Alex and Joyce Ip. The meal was ended with two tasty custard buns. By the way, we had a difficulty in ordering 6 custard buns with the waiter.....2 dishes / 6 buns / half a dozen..........it is getting more and more confused.
