Something will cheer people up!!

It's difficult to buy gifts for Ah Lun because we know each other for too long. All types of gifts had been sent. So I asked him what does he want, he said chocolates. I think he means it because he has a very big sweet tooth. So I am now shopping chocolates at Dubai duty free. They always have family value packs we do not see in Asia. Ah Lun always enjoy whole milk cadbury chocolate. He actually loves cheap brands, after tasting better brands. How strange is this guy?

This is the pack I am going to buy him. This is as big as a book. This is sold at HKD55. Buy 2 get one free, which means HKD35 per pack. In Hong Kong, you will probably get 1/3 of this pack.

When I found this, I really laugh out because of it's huge size.

2010 Business Trip # 1 - Dubai (Day 5)

It's been a long day but i got some really good updates on the destination.
We have been selling the tower for some time, but i finally got a chance to visit the observation deck of Burj Khalifa on Level 124. Then, i tried the monorail of The Palm, Dubai, to be followed by lunch and inspection tour at Armani Hotel. After that, i walked to The Dubai Mall, and I was impressed by its sheer scale, and it looked so different from the day i visited in Nov 2008. After 2 hours of photo shooting for office's reference, i watched the Dubai Fountain's show.
My legs were so sore now!
The spot showing in the picture is the location of observation deck, At The Top, which is on Level 124.
they even have an outdoor terrace, and i can take pictures through the gap of the glass panels.
Finally, got onto the driverless monorail on The Palm, Dubai
The first Armani Hotel in the world. Opened on 27 April 2010, it was located in the Burj Khalifa (G/F - 8/F, 38-39/F). It's so simple but elegant & chic. Mr Armani, i start loving you beacuse of your impeccable designs! You see, there is not one extra line in the design. The door handle and a hook for the daily newspaper are all hidden in the wall.
The Dubai Mall - the world's largest mall. Another superlative in Dubai. Fauchon Cafe from Paris and Armani Cafe is located in the Atrium. The Dubai Mall is packed!

Last stop - The Dubai Fountain in front of Burj Khalifa.

Cats in Dubai

It was the first photo taken while i was running towards the sunrise. I had to stop and took this picture because the setting was really nice. The little thing was sitting on the blue bench in an elegant posture. I tried to hide myself in the grass so i can take a few snaps.
BTW, Do you get it, i am talking about GRASS...not bush. hahha

This cat was more fierce-looking. Do you see those two patches of black fur? I think it looks like the cat was putting the sun glasses onto its forehead. :p

2010 Business Trip #1 - Dubai (Day 2 - 4)

There're not much to tell because i was mainly meeting with different business partners. I did manage to do dhow cruise and the desert safari dinner with the hosted buyers after work in Day 3 and Day 4.
I think the funniest part of my last few days would be my adhoc photo shooting this morning.
I actually woke up at 5;30am in Dubai time. When i looked at the window, there were lots of sunlights leaking into my room through the heavy curtains. I thought the sunrise must be on again.
In a split of a second, i jumped out from bed and quickly got changed in 10 mins. I started running towards the sun once i reached the deserted street in Bur Dubai. Sometimes, the sun was blocked by certain buildings so i started running again to get a better angle. In fact, i did not get some really good shots in the end but i find this is so much fun. I also walked in the bastakiya area for more photos on the way back. It toke me 1.5 hours for the photo shoot, and i rushed back to take a shower and get ready for work.

Mei Ling is waiting for adoption

Poor Mei Ling who has lost one leg. It's heartbreaking to see other disadvantaged animals.

2010 Business Trip #1 - Dubai (Day 1)

Due to a number of reasons, i had not got any business travel before this one.
This is really a luxury to have 6 months free from business travel. But the dream will finally end one day.
This is my turn to visit the Arabian Travel Market this year. It's been quite some time not visiting Dubai. My last visit here was in November 2008, just one week before Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai opened.
I am glad that i was enable to take a 6-hour sleep during my 8-hour flight. I had asked the flight attendants not to wake me up for food. and thanks to the flat bed in business class, i had the same deep sleep as if i am in Hong Kong. The highlights of my flight would be "It's Complicated". Let's see what movie i will get on my return flight. Emirates's ICE inflight entertainment system is really great. hope you can also try it in the future.
The first photo i took in my trip was the sunrise picture outside my hotel, Arabian Courtyard.
When i was dropped off the car, the sun is so round and orange. But after checking in, the sun has risen behind the clouds. What a pity! Photography is always about timing!

葉問2 - thumbs up!!!

I read the below article in Metro Daily this morning. What a coincidence, we have booked the tickets to see the movie tonight. it was indeed a good movie because we never checked our watch. I feel so touched in my heart after seeing this movie. Chinese martial arts is not anything shallow!!!

文:熊秉文(jonathan@indblue.com)
