Day 13

Jenny is finally on leave this Sunday, but surprisingly both of us did not fear about the lack of help but enjoyed the quiet time at home very much. May be we treated Tin Tin as family member already, and she's more quiet. On the other hand, Jenny speaks Cantonese so she makes a big difference  if she's present.
We were feeling okay as baby has a schedule to follow. We take turns to look after the baby and we enjoyed our private family time. It's always fun to watch Ah Lun talking to baby because the conversation is so abnormal!!
Finally Ah Lun got time to take some pictures from his D4. This was taken by my iPhone 5s only. It may take a longer time to upload the photos from D4.
baby Megan is most active in the evening. She woke up earlier than her meal time, but she was finding the nipple in this picture. Though it was not captured very well, it's really hilarious.

Day 12

This daddy worked late and looked after the last feeding before midnight. But Megan did not want to wake up...
Ah Lun told Megan not to sleep now. Save it for the night!

Day 11

After calling the tsing yi mayernal and child health centre for two days, finally I got a time slot!!!
It's like I am going back to the 80s when I arrived. The centre's decoration is so different from the current world. Actually I also visited this centre when I was young.  I bet they did not change the decoration much. Even the video showing there is like the educational video we once watched at primary school. So interesting.
The centre was filled with crying babies but Megan was in deep sleep and I was amazed that she did not wake up!!

When my name was called, we took Megan in a big room and weighed her. Her latest weight was 3.94kg. The funniest thing also happened on this baby, she wee wee on the weight! Haha.

Even though the visit was short, 9-11am, I was so exhausted because I woke up at 4:45am every day now.

Ah Lun had a super busy day too, which means I'm working on my own today. Poor him, he woke up from 3am for work and came back home at 12 midnight. Terrible schedule!!

Day 10

I cannot believe it that's day 10 already.
And we are back to home for one full week. Everything gets a system gradually, and we started to understand our baby's requests more.
1. She always wants people to hold her for a while after feeding. She will open her eyes to check if you are here from time to time.
2. Wait and see before you change the diapers. Similar to all babies, she likes to eat and poo at the same time.
3. She tends to be more awake in the evening from 8-12pm....
4. She is quite sweaty and hates hot environment.

In terms of my breast status, I finally get the electric pump to work on my left breast. May be the lecithin pills are working! It's so touching.

Day 9

It was a busy day because I promised myself to pump my milk more frequently to alleviate the blockage of milk ducts. Its so time consuming and I wonder how will I survive if I don't have any helpers.
It's quite impressive to have 120ml solely from my right breast. But my left breast is still very blocked, very frustrating.
Mom came to visit Megan and help me to buy the dries sea cucumber. She was smiling from the bottom of her heart.
On the other hand, my 99 still have not got a chance to see Megan because she's occupied with taking care of her two grandchildren.
Kailan, the eldest sister, was quite unhappy because everyone's attention was on the baby. We spent some time to play with Kailan and the dog is as passionate as usual.
In the evenings, Ah Lun usually takes the early shift and I will help in the second shift. This works out quite well for us and he still gets some sleep before work.

Day 8

With Ah Lun's help in the mid night, I could get my breast milk pumped more frequently. I did sleep less last night because of the pumping.
Megan is a demanding baby and she always wants to have a hug before going to bed. So we offered her both pacifier and our hugs to calm her. Luckily, she slept from 3:30am to 7:09am this morning. Isn't it great!!!
Ah Lun's is the technician in the family, so he looks after the operations of my electric pump and sterilizer. Therefore, he cleaned / sterilized everything after my breast milk pumping and went to bed later. As a result, the first morning feeding was all looked after by me.
Posing for me? She's in deep sleep after stomach is full.
Both blanket and toy sponsored by company.

Today, we need to take baby out to check Jaundice. I m a bit happy because it's a break for my month-long confinement.
Very lucky, she did not wake up from 1:30pm to 5pm. And she quickly took a bath right after we stepped into the house.
The next challenge will be on Friday, visiting 健康院. It may take a longer time for that thorough check.

Day 7

We have got a great night slept because Megan just woke up once. We calmed her down with the pacifier. Why did I not use this two nights earlier?
It's funny to know that Megannjust cried because of insecurity. The pacifier helped to soothed her.
After the last meal at 11:30pm, I just woke up at 3:30am to feed her once again. Ah Lun needs to work today so I did not wake him up to offer me a helping hand.
The next meal took place at 7:30am. And I felt so great with this achievement!!!
This cheeky baby is so angry if milk is not offered to her quick enough!
The only caption I can think of is 照鏡!

Today, 99 helped to send Megan's proposed name to master for final approval. His first comment was Megan is a big eater. I told Ah Lun that this master is so powerful. He said may be not, because the master asked if baby's mother works. Following that, master said the mom is very successful. Ah Lun disagreed with this comment XDDDD!

Megan's Chinese name will be 謝玥瞳 if there's no further changes. :)

Day 6

Last night, the second night Megan slept over at home, was still a disaster. We fed her at 1:30am and she kept crying until 4:30am. We changed her diapers for 4 times, because she kept on wee wee or poo poo. We thought her crying was coming from the discomfort, but looks like she has no reason to cry.
Ah Lun has slept after 4:30am as he had a long day of work. I breast fed the baby, followed by formula milk. Finally, baby felt contented and tired of crying all night long. She did not wake up anymore. I could go to bed at 5:30am.

Now, I wake up at 8:30am, aiming to finish freshening myself and have my breakfast before she wakes up again.
Life of a mother is not easy!

I am sitting and waiting in the nursery, so I organized and filled things up. I love an organized life since I was young. How could my nursery a messy place especially you will need to get things done promptly.
Megan loves taking a bath. It's very rare that baby loves it without crying.
She loves water so much. It's like she's enjoying a spa in Bangkok.
When we washed her back on the first day, she disliked it... But today, she did not cry anymore.
如何抱嬰兒又不失霸氣?

Day 5

I think my right breast is getting better and better. It becomes much softer after pumping. In 20 mins, the milk volume from the right breast has reached 45ml.

For the left breast, the situation is still more or less the same. I only got 15ml after squeezing by hand.

I had another painful breast massage to clear the blocked milk ducts. The situation has improved once again! Yay!

Hope everything will be fine soon. Afterall, it's only Day 5!!

Last but not least, I had received a bunch of flowers from Liz who is also on maternity leave. They are so beautiful.

Day 4

Not sure if it's caused by hormones, I was really touched when I could finally take Megan home. When I saw Ah Lun holding his mini-me, I got tears in my eyes.
We had no time to get the car seat, so I was holding Megan in the car. Quite dangerous I found it later. Baby was wearing the swaddling blanket from Joanne!
Upon arrival, confinement lady jenny is about to come. She cooked a late lunch for us and showed some techniques of taking care of the baby. We found out that Megan loves bathing (basin sponsored by my family). Normally babies will cry when we drop them into water. But Megan enjoyed it so much!!

Jenny left us at 8pm, and the real challenge came after this. Both of us were so tired, but we need to wait for baby to wake up to feed her. Since it's the first night in a new place, the baby cried so much and so loud that she was awake from midnight to 4am......
Terrible 1st night with baby. Since ah Lun needs to work at 5am and he had been exhausted taking care of me in the last few days, I looked after the baby on the first night. Quite a brand new experience for me!! We are not defeated, just need more time to understand our Megan.
