Birthday Party for Connie & Cat (Part 1 - Preparation)

Following an unforgettable birthday surprise last year, homesick Cat requested for another party this year. So the same team was formed again to prepare the work.

First of all, we need to figure out the THEME of the party. We have no clues until one day i asked for Ah Lun's advice when we were shopping in Kwai Fong.

He suggested to organize an unusual dinner for big brother like gangsters at a very local and cheap restaurant. So we started to "blow water" and having jokes about it for so many weeks but nothing concrete was confirmed until the very last couple of days.

Ah Lun started sharing his props on what's app with the core team in mid May, and i just laughed out loud from the living room when he shared this photo from our study room! Even though we are living under the same roof, i cannot track his collection of props kept in our flat.

From day 1, we only got one chicken and one knife, we had increased our collection of weapons to one full bag. As this triad society has a very tight budget, he tried to source very cheap toys in one of the Tsing Yi housing estates.

Before the fake guns were sourced, Donna made one sample gun for our consideration. But Ah Lun was so into the game, and he finally found the weapons in a cheap cheap stationary shop.

Ah yea is responsible for the venue coordination. She even took pictures of the Choi Lung Restaurant one night and shared with us. We all love the cheap style of the restaurant!! The bottom line is we have to rent a private room, otherwise, we will all go to the police station.

We think one of the best work to match our theme is the dinner menu edited by Sally with some slangs used by the gangsters.

Flora helped to do hand writing of the menu (one copy for each birthday girl). She is the winner of calligraphy contest at school, so this job has to be completed by her. She also got three packets of 白粉 from her home. They are actually washing powder.

2 days before the party, I sent out the below invitation to the birthday girls. We did not disclose the address, so they have to find out the venue by themselves.

The preparation work was so much fun!

We are really kidults, and we never tired of this kind of games. Look forward to having another party soon.
