We were exploring Fez this full day with our tour guide Khalid. I read a story about a bad tour guide called Khalid, but I thought there should be so many Khalid(s) in the town, so I agreed to hire this man through my driver because we trusted our driver so far.
We started off in the old medina, it's a very interesting place. We were actually walking in the wet market of the local people. People here are selling olives, pink sweets, dates, preserved animal fat with minced meat, camel meat, etc. all these are so new to us.
Afterwards, he took us to various streets of the medina, and a specific activity will take place in those alleys. For example, dyers' market, brass pot makers, scissors men, carpenters, etc.
We also went to an old school which has a magnificent decoration. We were so impressed once we opened the door. The colourful tiles, and intricate carving are so fascinating!!
After all these, this Khalid started to take us to various shops which he had connection. The weaver's shop was the first one. We thought it is just one time, we were so naive and bought a cloth at $450. After that, we went to a local house's rooftop to see the famous tanneries where the leather was processed. We bought slippers there, but I could say they are expensive. Following that, he took us to a carpet shop. Oh my god, we are not buying any carpet, so we just did not take any picture and just waited him at the shop. But obviously, he was on his phone making us to stay longer. Ok, we thought its time to leave. Then he sent us to an art gallery, another commission shop... We just took a short walk and waited Khalid to come back to pick us up. I found him having lunch later on during this gap. Don't forget he did not allow us to take lunch until we asked.
Finally, it's time for lunch, so we wanted to have something quick. After all these incidents, I must say he took us to "his" connected shops to buy kebabs and tea.
Actually the lunch is just normal price for us, but I know it's over priced in Morocco. The old waiter said our drinks cost $30 (I did not argue becoz I assume all commissions are included there), so I paid the coins to him. He did not leave and give me a gesture to ask for more money!! That's very annoying.
When we were back to the hotel, I had a chat with our neighbor from Germany. She also disapproved these activities. She is going to explore the city herself tomorrow because she could speak Arabic. How good is that!

Waking up and found Ah Lun was already enjoying himself at the courtyard in front of our hotel room.
A more sophisticated breakfast in this hotel, but we only have jams x 2, butter, and cheese.
This is the roadside cafe in front of the city's gate.
Ah Lun was trying Moroccan black coffee here.
One of the key attractions in Fez. it used to be a school in the old days.
